Already know how it works?

How it works

Step 1:
Choose your starting point
Begin anywhere in your city - your front door, a favorite corner, wherever inspiration strikes. Open the webapp
Step 2:
Follow random directions
At each intersection, the route generator tells you: turn LEFT, RIGHT, or CONTINUE. No planning, just discovering.
Step 3:
Capture what you see
Between corners, photograph whatever catches your eye. Architecture, people, light, shadows - your choice.
Step 4:
Complete your series
Five corners later, you've created a unique 5-photo series that shows your city through your perspective.
Step 5:
Share your vision
Submit your series to be featured in Darkrooms Magazine and the RBNXPLRNG-map.

Why RBNXPLRNG?

Why random routes workBreak your patterns
We walk the same streets daily. Randomness forces you down streets you'd never choose, revealing hidden corners of familiar places.
See, don't search
Without a destination, you notice more. That interesting doorway, the way light hits a building, moments you'd normally walk past.
Pure exploration
No pressure to find "the perfect shot." The route decides where you go. You decide what matters enough to photograph.

About RBNXPLRNG

RBNXPLRNG (Urban Exploring) is a photography project created by Marcel Borgstijn, photographer and publisher of Darkrooms Magazine.
Born from the idea that randomness reveals what intention overlooks, this assignment has guided photographers to rediscover their cities - one random turn at a time.
What started as a newsletter challenge has grown into a global photography movement, with series published in Darkrooms Magazine Special Editions and shared across continents.Read the Original Article
